NOVA Researcher Showcases RESURGENCE Project at the Imagine Membrane Conference in the Azores

The Imagine Membrane Conference gathered leading researchers, professors, and students from around the world to discuss advances in membrane science and technology. Among the participants was Alfonso Ronca from the REQUIMTE research group at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, who represented the RESURGENCE project, funded under the Horizon Europe programme.

During the conference, Alfonso presented a poster titled “Nanofiltration for the Treatment of Bleaching Effluents from the Pulp and Paper Industry.” His work focuses on developing nanofiltration processes to treat and recover water from industrial effluents, reducing the environmental footprint of water-intensive sectors. The study also explores the use of spectroscopic techniques and soft sensors to monitor water quality in real time, contributing to smarter, more sustainable water reuse strategies.
