RESURGENCE Project Launches Official Video Highlighting the Work Industrial Water Circularity

The EU-funded RESURGENCE project is proud to announce the launch of its official project video, offering a comprehensive look at how the consortium is working to revolutionize industrial water management and accelerate Europe’s transition toward a climate-neutral and circular economy.

As European industries face the dual pressure of increasing resource scarcity and ambitious climate targets, RESURGENCE steps in to provide a roadmap for true industrial circularity. The newly released video introduces the project’s core mission: enhancing circular water systems to recover not just water, but also energy and valuable feedstocks that were previously lost to waste.

The project’s strategy is built around the innovative concept of “Seeds of Hubs for Circularity.” These are early-stage industrial ecosystems designed to foster climate neutrality and industrial competitiveness. By deploying a suite of advanced technologies—including Digital Twins, AI-based decision support, innovative membranes, and hybrid biological systems—RESURGENCE is demonstrating that industrial waste can be transformed into a strategic resource.

Real-World Impact Across Europe

The video takes viewers on a journey across the project’s four diverse industrial case studies, where these cutting-edge solutions are being put to the test:

  • Pulp and Paper: Enhancing efficiency in Figueira da Foz, Portugal.
  • Chemical Industry: Optimizing resource recovery in Istanbul, Turkey.
  • Steel Sector: Addressing heavy industrial challenges in Ostrowiec, Poland.
  • Urban-Industrial Symbiosis: Connecting municipal and industrial loops in Campo de Gibraltar, Spain.

Driven by a powerful consortium of 20 partners from 11 countries, RESURGENCE combines academic excellence with industrial expertise. Together, the partners are working to ensure that industrial wastewater treatment becomes more energy-efficient and that European industries remain leaders in the global green transition.

The RESURGENCE project video is now available to watch on YouTube.
